Moulin À Vent, Cuvée des Breynets
For the last 4 generations, the Desperrier family has been settled in Romanèche-Thorins, in a place called “La Pierre”. This village is located at the southern end of Burgundy. On top of the hill is an old windmill, like a lighthouse looking over a sea of vines. This historical monument gave its name to one of the oldest French appellation: le Moulin à Vent.
The production area covers about 320 acres between Romanèche-Thorins and Chénas.
Le Moulin à Vent has great potential for aging. It gets its uniqueness from a soil rich in manganese, a mineral that was mined in this town until the end of the 19th century.
Today we have about 3 acres of black Gamay with white juice, mostly in the AOC Moulin a Vent. We cultivated our single grape approach through the diversity of 3 terroirs, which are: Les Breynets, Les Greneriers and La Clos de la Pierre.
